The Gurugram police have apprehended two individuals in connection with the killing of a former National Security Guard (NSG) commando, identified as Sundar, also known as Fauji, who was murdered in Kasan village last week. Sundar was out on parole at the time of his death, having been serving a jail sentence for the murder of the former village sarpanch, Bahadur.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that the arrested accused have been identified as Gulshan, alias Gullu, alias Ganesh, aged 20, and Kartik Chauhan, alias Chhota Rohan, also 20, both residents of Kasan village in the Gurugram district. Authorities recovered two illegal pistols, believed to have been used in the commission of the crime, from the possession of the suspects. Kartik Chauhan, the primary accused, is reportedly employed at a water supply plant within Gurugram.

During interrogation, Kartik Chauhan reportedly confessed that his father, Bahadur, was murdered in 2018 by Sundar, who was serving a life sentence for the crime. Sundar had arrived in his village on March 29 on parole to attend the wedding of his niece. Driven by a desire to avenge his father’s murder, Kartik, in collaboration with his friend Gulshan, executed the killing. The Gurugram police are continuing to question the accused to ascertain further details surrounding the incident.

The fatal incident occurred on April 30 when Sundar was out for his morning walk. As he was returning, he stopped outside Chauhan Boot House, where two assailants approached him. Without warning, they drew pistols and opened fire, striking Sundar. The attack took place around 8:30 a.m.

Following the shooting, an First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the Manesar police station. The investigation into the murder has been a priority for the Gurugram police, given the victim’s background as a former NSG commando and the retaliatory motive alleged by the accused. The recovery of the weapons is a significant development in the case.

The case highlights the complexities of inter-family disputes and the long-term consequences of past crimes. Sundar’s parole for a family event ironically placed him in a vulnerable position, leading to his death. The police are expected to conduct further inquiries to confirm the sequence of events and any potential involvement of other parties.

The arrests signal a swift response from the Gurugram police to apprehend those responsible for the targeted killing. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to build a comprehensive case against the two individuals. The motive of revenge for a past murder appears to be central to the current investigation.

Further details are anticipated as the police continue their detailed interrogation and forensic examination of the evidence collected. The recovered firearms will undergo ballistic testing to confirm their use in the shooting. The Gurugram police are committed to ensuring justice for the victim and bringing the perpetrators to account for their actions.
