Jack Schlossberg, a Democratic candidate vying for a New York House seat, has put forth a proposal for monthly Child Tax Credit (CTC) payments. Schlossberg, who is running for New York’s 12th Congressional District, outlined his plan, which he has termed the “Monthly Moms Bonus.”

The proposed initiative aims to provide families with regular financial support. According to Schlossberg’s campaign, the program would be partially funded by $1 billion that some Senate Republicans are advocating for to finance the White House State Ballroom. The remaining costs would be covered through proposed tax reforms, though details on these reforms have not been fully elaborated upon.

Schlossberg, the grandson of former President John F. Kennedy, announced his candidacy for the seat vacated by incumbent Jerrold Nadler. His campaign has faced scrutiny regarding his professional experience and local civic engagement, with opponents and analysts pointing to a lack of traditional political background. However, Schlossberg has asserted his independence, stating his intention to think for himself and bring a new perspective to Congress.

His financial disclosures, covering January 2025 to February 2026, indicate a net worth ranging between $10.5 million and $31.9 million. These assets include a diversified investment portfolio with holdings in major technology and consumer companies, as well as interests in real estate and a California restaurant. Schlossberg also benefits from several family trusts, including those related to commercial real estate development in Chicago and oil and gas interests in Oklahoma and Texas. His grandmother Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis’s Martha’s Vineyard estate is also part of a family trust.

The candidate has been active on social media, using platforms like Instagram and TikTok to connect with a younger demographic. His campaign has also garnered support from prominent political figures, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has endorsed his bid. Schlossberg has positioned himself as a candidate committed to transparency, having been among the first to submit his financial disclosures.

Schlossberg’s campaign has emphasized his commitment to fighting for his constituents and addressing key issues. He has stated his intention not to accept money from Super PACs, corporate PACs, or big tech companies, advocating for a congressional stock trading ban. His policy proposals, such as the “Monthly Moms Bonus,” aim to address economic concerns for families, with funding mechanisms that involve reallocating existing proposed government spending and implementing tax reforms.

The race for New York’s 12th Congressional District is competitive, with several candidates vying for the Democratic nomination. Schlossberg’s background, which includes commentary and influencer activities, sets him apart from many of his opponents who have more traditional political careers. He has also been vocal in his criticisms of certain political figures, including his cousin Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

The proposed Child Tax Credit expansion highlights Schlossberg’s focus on economic relief for families, framing it as a benefit for mothers. The plan’s funding source, diverting funds intended for the White House State Ballroom, has drawn attention, with Schlossberg’s campaign suggesting it reflects a prioritization of social programs over ceremonial expenditures. The overall cost and the specifics of the proposed tax reforms required to fully fund the initiative remain key areas for further public discussion and legislative debate.
