In a significant administrative move ahead of elections for several municipal corporations and councils, the Punjab Police have issued transfer orders for 29 police officers. The reshuffle includes one Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and 28 other ranks, with the transfers taking effect immediately.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, the Punjab Police department has directed all affected officers to report to their new assignments without delay. The transfers are seen as a routine administrative exercise aimed at ensuring efficient functioning of the police force, particularly in the lead-up to local body elections.
The list of transferred officers includes Anubhav Jain, an IPS officer who has been moved from the position of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sub-Division East in Amritsar to ASP Sub-Division Industrial Area-B in Ludhiana. This reassignment places Jain in a key administrative role in another major urban centre of the state.
The broader transfers encompass a range of ranks and specialized units, affecting officers across multiple districts. Among those reassigned is Ravinder Singh, who will now serve as ACP Sub-Division East in Amritsar. Satwinder Singh has been posted as DSP Sub-Division Mehal Kalan in Barnala, while Jaspal Singh will take up the role of DSP Sub-Division Malout in Sri Muktsar Sahib.
Manmohan Sharma has been appointed as DSP Headquarters in Moga, and Davinder Singh will serve as DSP Sub-Division Tanda in Hoshiarpur. Sukhpal Singh’s new posting will involve responsibilities as DSP Sub-Division Baba Bakala in Amritsar Rural, as well as DSP ANTF-1 in Border Range, Amritsar. Arun Sharma has also been assigned to DSP ANTF-1, Border Range, Amritsar.
Further changes include Sanjiv Singla moving to DSP Sub-Division City-1 in Patiala, and Satnam Singh taking charge as DSP Sub-Division Bhawanigarh in Sangrur. Rahul Kaushal has been posted as DSP PBI NDPS-cum-Narcotics in Moga, and Jasbinder Singh will serve as DSP Sub-Division Bagha Purana, also in Moga.
Dalbir Singh is set to assume duties as DSP Sub-Division Rural in Sangrur, and Sukhdev Singh has been transferred to DSP Sub-Division Banur in Patiala. Gurigbal Singh will now be ACP Licensing and Security in Ludhiana, and Manoj Kumar has been posted as DSP Sri Hargobindpur in Batala.
The reshuffling also involves Harish Behal, who will serve as DSP Detective in Gurdaspur, and Kulbhushan, who has been appointed DSP Sub-Division City in Hoshiarpur. Dev Dutt has been posted as DSP Intelligence Wing, Punjab, and Gabbar Singh will take up the role of DSP Headquarters in Khanna.
Inderpal Chauhan’s new assignment is DSP Sub-Division Ahmedgarh in Malerkotla. Sukhdev Singh (a different officer with the same name) has been posted as DSP PBI NDPS-cum-Narcotics in Sangrur. Sushil Kumar will serve as DSP ANTF-2, Border Range, Amritsar, and Amarpreet Singh has been appointed as DSP Intelligence Wing, Punjab.
Gurpreet Singh’s transfer places him as DSP PBI Crime Against Women and Children in Bathinda. Daljit Singh has been assigned to DSP RTC, PAP, Jalandhar. Harjit Singh will serve as DSP 27th Battalion PAP, Jalandhar, and Balwinder Singh has also been posted to DSP RTC, PAP, Jalandhar. Lastly, Prabhjot Kaur will take up the role of DSP 13th Battalion PAP, Chandigarh, and will also be attached with ANTF, Punjab.
The comprehensive list of transfers indicates a wide geographical spread across various districts of Punjab, including Ludhiana, Amritsar, Patiala, Sangrur, Moga, Hoshiarpur, Barnala, Gurdaspur, Bathinda, and Jalandhar. The postings also extend to crucial state-level units such as the intelligence wing and anti-narcotics task force, signalling a strategic reallocation of personnel within the Punjab Police force.
