A 13-year-old boy who had been reported missing from Irugur in Coimbatore on May 15, was discovered deceased late on Sunday, May 17, 2026. Coimbatore police have arrested two of his friends, aged 15 and 13, in connection with the alleged murder.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the boys had gone to the Noyyal river near Masaniamman temple to catch fish. It was during this outing that a physical altercation occurred, leading to the tragic events. Sources indicate that the 15-year-old boy, allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time, attacked the victim with a liquor bottle before striking his head with a stone, resulting in the boy’s death. Following the incident, the accused are alleged to have buried the body in the slush near the canal.
The motive for the murder is believed to stem from a quarrel that erupted after the victim allegedly spoke ill of the 15-year-old boy’s parents. Police have registered a case and are continuing their investigations into the matter. Further details are expected to emerge as the probe progresses.
