Haryana Roadways has commenced a new daily bus service connecting Rohtak in Haryana with Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh. The initiative aims to enhance regional connectivity and provide a more convenient and affordable travel option for passengers.
Information was available with The Chenab Times indicating that the service, operated by Haryana Roadways from Rohtak, began on Tuesday. This direct route is expected to significantly benefit residents of Rohtak and its surrounding districts by offering seamless access to Shimla, a popular tourist destination and administrative hub.
The bus is scheduled to depart from the Rohtak Bus Stand daily at 10:05 AM. The journey will proceed via Chandigarh and Kalka before reaching Shimla. For the return trip, the bus will depart from Shimla at 7:00 AM the following morning, ensuring a consistent daily link between the two cities.
The total distance covered by this new route is approximately 373 kilometres. The fare for a single passenger has been set at Rs 581, positioning it as an economical choice for travellers. This pricing strategy aligns with the objective of providing accessible public transportation.
Deputy Commissioner Sachin Gupta highlighted the launch as part of ongoing efforts to bolster public transport infrastructure and expand citizen-centric mobility solutions. He stated that the introduction of this direct service to Shimla would greatly enhance convenience for various segments of the population, including tourists, students, employees, and other frequent commuters.
Mr. Gupta further emphasized that ensuring affordable and reliable public transport remains a key priority for the administration. He indicated that Haryana Roadways is committed to introducing similar initiatives in the future to further improve connectivity and the overall quality of public transport services across the state.
The new service is anticipated to be particularly valuable for those residing in Rohtak and neighbouring areas who have historically sought direct and cost-effective means to travel to Shimla. The direct nature of the service eliminates the need for multiple changes, thereby reducing travel time and inconvenience.
This development is part of a broader strategy by Haryana Roadways to optimize its network and respond to the evolving travel needs of the public. By extending services to popular destinations like Shimla, the transport corporation aims to strengthen its presence and utility among commuters.
The route’s progression through Chandigarh and Kalka will also offer connectivity benefits to passengers from these en route cities, potentially increasing ridership and the service’s overall viability. The daily frequency ensures that travellers have a reliable option regardless of their departure day.
The introduction of such direct services is a testament to the evolving landscape of public transportation in India, where focus is increasingly placed on efficiency, affordability, and passenger comfort. Haryana Roadways’ initiative in launching the Rohtak-Shimla service is poised to become a significant factor in inter-state travel for many.
