Chennai, Tamil Nadu – In a significant reshuffling of ministerial portfolios, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has appointed N. Marie Wilson as the new Finance Minister, with K. A. Sengottaiyan being reassigned to the Revenue and Disaster Management portfolio. The changes come as part of a broader cabinet expansion that saw 23 new MLAs inducted into the government.

Chief Minister Vijay has retained several key departments, including Home, General Administration, Police, and Municipal Administration, Urban and Water Supply, underscoring his continued focus on these critical areas. He has also been allocated the Poverty Alleviation portfolio.
New Appointments and Portfolio Allocations
N. Marie Wilson, a prominent leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and an MLA from the Radhakrishnan Nagar constituency, now heads the Finance, Planning, and Development departments. Wilson, who holds a Doctorate in management science, brings an educational and business background to the finance ministry. His political journey includes grassroots engagement and organizational work within the TVK party.
K. A. Sengottaiyan, a veteran politician with decades of experience and a former Finance Minister, has been moved to the crucial Revenue and Disaster Management portfolio. Sengottaiyan, who previously served in various capacities including Minister for Transport, Agriculture, Information Technology, and School Education under different administrations, brings a wealth of administrative experience to his new role. His political career spans over five decades, marked by multiple terms as a legislator and significant roles within his party.
The expansion also saw other significant appointments. Dr. K. G. Arunraj has been assigned the Health, Medical Education, and Family Welfare departments. N. Anand will oversee Rural Development and Water Resources, while Aadhav Arjuna will manage Public Works and Sports Development. The Women Welfare portfolio, previously held by the Chief Minister, has been reallocated to Minister Jegadeshwari, who will also be responsible for departments concerning children, senior citizens, and differently-abled persons, as well as services related to IAS, IPS, IFS, and District Revenue officers.
Other new ministers and their portfolios include P. Venkataramanan (Food and Civil Supplies), R. Nirmalkumar (Energy Resources and Law), Rajmohan (School Education, Tamil Development, Information and Publicity), and Dr. T. K. Prabhu (Natural Resources). Industries has been allocated to Selvi S. Keerthana.
