Panchkula, Haryana – The Haryana government and Jindal Stainless have extended their long-standing collaboration aimed at enhancing skill development and promoting the application of stainless steel. The renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the leading stainless steel manufacturer and the Haryana State Board of Technical Education (HSBTE) will span an additional three years.
The Chenab Times has learned that this agreement signifies a continued commitment to fostering technical education and specialized manufacturing skills within the state, focusing specifically on the versatile properties of stainless steel. The partnership seeks to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial requirements, providing students with crucial hands-on experience.
Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director of Jindal Stainless, expressed optimism about the extended collaboration. “We will continue to work towards creating a stronger technical understanding of stainless steel and its applications at the polytechnic level, while providing greater industry exposure to students,” Jindal stated. He added that the company looks forward to expanding the program’s reach and creating more opportunities for practical learning in the upcoming phase of the partnership.
This initiative is an integral part of Jindal Stainless Limited’s (JSL) broader national campaign designed to raise awareness about the extensive uses and benefits of corrosion-resistant and high tensile stainless steel. The company aims to highlight how these materials can be effectively integrated across various sectors.
In the context of national consumption patterns, Jindal noted that India’s per capita consumption of stainless steel stands at approximately 3.4 kg, which is considerably lower than the global average of 6 kg. This highlights a significant potential for growth and increased application of stainless steel within the Indian market.
Jindal Stainless has a proven track record of engaging with educational institutions to bolster technical expertise. The company has existing collaborative arrangements with esteemed organizations such as IIT-Kharagpur, NIT Trichy, and the Gati Shakti Vidyalaya, among others. These partnerships underscore JSL’s dedication to advancing technical education across different levels of the Indian academic landscape.
As part of the OP Jindal Group, Jindal Stainless holds the distinction of being India’s largest stainless steel producer. The company is also recognized globally, ranking among the top ten stainless steel manufacturers worldwide. This extended partnership with the Haryana government is expected to further strengthen its position and contribute to the skill development ecosystem in the region.
The renewed MoU is anticipated to facilitate a more profound understanding of stainless steel’s properties and applications among students pursuing technical courses, thereby equipping them with skills that are in demand within the manufacturing and engineering sectors. The initiative is poised to contribute to the ‘Make in India’ campaign by enhancing the skilled workforce available for advanced manufacturing processes.
The collaboration will focus on curriculum development, faculty training, and providing students with internship and project opportunities within Jindal Stainless’s state-of-the-art facilities. This approach ensures that the skills imparted are directly relevant to the evolving needs of the stainless steel industry, fostering innovation and driving economic growth in Haryana and beyond.
