Unidentified Man Found Dead on Old Delhi Pavement, Police Investigate

NEW DELHI: An unidentified man, estimated to be between 35 and 40 years old, was discovered dead on a pavement in the bustling Chitli Kabar Market area of Old Delhi during the early hours of Wednesday. The body was found by two constables on motorcycle patrol duty at approximately 2:30 am. According to police reports, the constables noticed the man lying on the pavement outside a shop.

Information was available with The Chenab Times indicating that preliminary examination of the body revealed no visible external injuries. The deceased was reportedly wearing ordinary clothes and slippers. Efforts by local residents and nearby shopkeepers to identify the man proved unsuccessful, prompting the police to launch a wider investigation and appeal to the public for assistance.

A crime team was dispatched to the scene to conduct a thorough inspection and document the area through photographs and videos as part of the ongoing investigation. Following the completion of necessary legal formalities, the body has been transferred to the mortuary at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital. Proceedings related to the identification of the deceased and an inquest into the circumstances of his death are currently underway.

The incident in Old Delhi highlights a recurring issue of unidentified bodies being discovered in public spaces across the capital. While the cause of death in this specific case remains undetermined pending further investigation, authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the man’s identity or the events leading to his death to come forward and aid the police in their inquiry.
