SRINAGAR: The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a weather forecast predicting rain, thundershowers, and gusty winds across various parts of Jammu and Kashmir for the next two days. There is also a possibility of isolated hailstorm activity in some locations.

Information was available with The Chenab Times indicating that scattered to fairly widespread areas are likely to experience one or two spells of rain, thundershowers, hailstorms, and gusty winds on May 29 and May 30. This period is expected to see the most active weather conditions.

Following this spell, the weather is anticipated to remain generally dry from May 31 through June 3. However, brief spells of rain or thundershowers at isolated places, particularly during the late afternoon hours, cannot be entirely ruled out during this dry period.

Looking ahead to the weekend of June 4 and June 5, the forecast suggests partly cloudy weather conditions across the Union Territory. During these days, there are chances of brief rain, thundershowers, and gusty winds occurring at scattered locations.

The extended outlook for June 6 to June 8 indicates a return to generally dry weather conditions throughout Jammu and Kashmir, marking a stable weather pattern for that period.

In a specific advisory issued by the MeT Centre, residents and authorities have been warned of potential hazards associated with the expected weather. These include thunder, lightning, hailstorm, and gusty winds that could reach speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour in a few places. This warning is particularly relevant for the period of May 29 and May 30, when the weather is predicted to be most turbulent.

The advisory also highlighted the potential impact of these weather events, urging caution for any outdoor activities or travel plans during the specified dates. Such meteorological bulletins are crucial for disaster preparedness and for informing the public about impending weather-related risks, enabling them to take necessary precautions.

The Meteorological Department continuously monitors weather patterns and provides updates to assist administrative bodies and the general public in managing potential disruptions. The current forecast suggests a temporary shift towards unsettled weather before a return to more stable conditions later in the first week of June.

The forecast comes as parts of the northern region are experiencing seasonal transitions, with pre-monsoon activities often characterized by such unpredictable weather patterns. Local authorities are expected to remain vigilant and prepared to respond to any adverse situations arising from the predicted rainfall and wind activity.

This information is vital for sectors such as agriculture, where timely weather updates can influence farming practices, and for tourism, where travel advisories may be issued based on weather conditions. The consistent provision of such data by meteorological agencies plays a critical role in the overall safety and planning for the residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
