JAMMU, June 2: The intensive anti-militancy operation in the dense forests of Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, has entered its eleventh day with the General Officer Commanding (GoC) of the White Knight Corps, Lieutenant General P.K. Mishra, reviewing the progress of ‘Operation Sheruwali’. The operation is focused on tracking down militants believed to be hiding in the challenging terrain of the Manjakote sector.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that Lieutenant General Mishra, accompanied by the GoC of Counter Insurgency Force (CIF) Romeo, visited the Gambhir Mughlan area to assess the operational situation on the ground. During his visit, the Corps Commander was apprised of the tactical strategies, ongoing actions, and logistical support mechanisms in place for the troops engaged in the arduous task of flushing out militants.

The Army’s White Knight Corps released a statement on social media platform X, confirming the Corps Commander’s visit to the general area of Gambhir Mughlan. The statement highlighted that the visit was to review the progress of ‘Operation Sheruwali’ and to gain a firsthand assessment of the operational situation. The troops were commended for their unwavering resilience, professionalism, and meticulous execution of their duties in pursuit of the operational objectives.

The operation was initiated on May 23, following credible intelligence regarding the presence of militants in the Dorimal-Gambhir Mughlan belt of Rajouri district. Security forces established contact with the suspected militants, leading to an encounter. Coordinated search operations and targeted fire assaults have been intensified by security forces to dislodge the militants from their suspected hideouts, which are reportedly located in deep gorges and natural caves within the densely forested terrain.

Officials indicated that during the ongoing operation, security forces successfully busted a hideout in the area. A brief exchange of fire preceded the discovery, and bloodstains were found, suggesting that some militants may have sustained injuries while attempting to evade capture. However, as of the latest reports, no militant has been apprehended or neutralized in connection with this specific operation.

Earlier, on the preceding day, Lieutenant General Mishra, in company with the GOC Ace of Spades Division, had visited forward areas along the Line of Control (LoC). This visit was aimed at reviewing the prevailing security dynamics and the operational preparedness of the formations deployed in the region. During his interaction with the troops, the Corps Commander expressed satisfaction with the enhanced surveillance measures, precision-strike capabilities, and overall readiness for future warfare scenarios, underscoring the Army’s commitment to maintaining robust domination along the LoC.
