Jammu Police Swift Action Saves Passenger Who Slipped From Moving Train

JAMMU, June 7: A passenger’s life was saved due to the prompt and decisive action of Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel who intervened after the individual slipped from a moving train near the Udhampur district.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that a passenger, identified as Anurag Choudhary from Delhi, was travelling on the Swaraj Express from Katra towards Jammu. The incident occurred when the train reached the Katheel area, and the passenger fell from the train into Tunnel 19-U.

Commandant 24 JKAP IR, Senior Superintendent of Police, Sandeep Mehta, stated that the immediate response of the police guard deployed on duty along the railway track was crucial in averting a tragedy. The sentry on duty, Constable Shabir Ahmad, immediately reacted to the situation upon witnessing the passenger fall.

The injured passenger, who was bleeding, was swiftly attended to by Constable Ahmad and taken to the guard post. There, he received immediate first aid. Following the initial medical attention, the matter was promptly reported to the Police Post GRP Ramnagar. Subsequently, the injured passenger was transferred to the Government Medical College Udhampur for further treatment and comprehensive medical care.

SSP Mehta confirmed that the condition of the injured passenger is currently stable and he is responding positively to the ongoing treatment. He further emphasized that the timely intervention, swift action, and close coordination among the police personnel were instrumental in saving a precious life.
