Jammu and Kashmir: Drabshalla Youth Delegation Raises Civic and Education Concerns Before DC Kishtwar

A delegation of youth from Drabshalla in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district met Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar and submitted a memorandum highlighting several issues affecting residents of the area, including students, commuters, and electricity consumers.

According to details received by The Chenab Times, the delegation raised demands related to higher education support, transportation facilities for students, road infrastructure, and power supply. The youth representatives urged the district administration to take measures to address the concerns and improve public services in the region.

Among the key demands placed before the Deputy Commissioner was the provision of financial assistance and scholarship support for students pursuing higher education. The delegation said such support would help students from economically weaker backgrounds continue their studies without financial constraints.

The youth representatives also sought a dedicated school bus service for students from Drabshalla, stating that improved transportation facilities would benefit school-going children and ease commuting challenges faced by families in the area.

Road infrastructure figured prominently in the memorandum. The delegation requested the blacktopping of National Highway-244 passing through Drabshalla Market, citing the need for better road conditions for commuters and local businesses. They also called for the blacktopping of the Drabshalla-Bimalnag Road to improve connectivity for residents of nearby villages.

Another demand concerned electricity supply. The delegation urged authorities to ensure round-the-clock power supply from the Joshana Grid, stating that frequent disruptions affect daily life and economic activities in the area.

During the meeting, the youth delegation also invited the Deputy Commissioner to hold a public darbar in Drabshalla. They said such an outreach programme would provide local residents with an opportunity to directly present their concerns and grievances before the district administration.

The Deputy Commissioner assured the delegation that all genuine issues raised during the meeting would be examined and addressed on priority. He also appreciated the youth for engaging constructively with the administration and bringing public concerns to its notice.
