SRINAGAR: Authorities in Ganderbal district have issued a stern public notice directing the immediate removal of all encroachments, including structures and landholdings, situated along the alignment of the Ring Road Phase-IIA project. The directive targets individuals and entities that have occupied land or built structures within the designated project area.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that the notice, issued by the Office of the Assistant Collector (Tehsildar) in Ganderbal, specifically addresses land owners, structure owners, and beneficiaries who have already received compensation for properties falling within the Ring Road’s route. The project is part of the broader Bharatmala Pariyojna initiative, aiming to upgrade the Manigam-Ganderbal-Pandach section of the old National Highway-1D to a four-lane standard.

According to the public notice, dated June 10, 2026, all affected parties are mandated to clear their structures, belongings, and any construction materials from the project corridor within a period of seven days from the date of the notice’s publication. This action is crucial for the unimpeded progress of the vital infrastructure development.

The Ganderbal administration has made it clear that failure to adhere to this stipulated deadline will result in the mandatory removal or dismantling of the encroaching items by the authorities. The notice explicitly states that all associated risks, costs, and consequences arising from such forced removal will be borne entirely by the respective owners or beneficiaries responsible for the encroachments. This measure underscores the administration’s commitment to clearing the project path for timely completion.

The Ring Road project in Ganderbal is a significant undertaking aimed at improving connectivity and easing traffic congestion in the region. Phase-IIA focuses on a critical stretch that links important local routes to the broader national highway network. The clearing of encroachments is a prerequisite for land acquisition and subsequent construction phases.

The administration has also emphasized that this notice serves as a final opportunity for voluntary compliance. Local revenue and police departments are expected to coordinate efforts to ensure the effective implementation of the eviction process should voluntary removal not occur within the specified timeframe. Residents and landholders with properties along the Ring Road alignment are advised to verify their land records and promptly comply with the directive to avoid punitive measures.
