A former boxing coach turned gangster, Harry Boxer, has emerged as a significant international operative for the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, according to intelligence reports and law enforcement investigations. Boxer, whose real name is Harichand Jat, is alleged to be orchestrating gang activities from abroad, with his name surfacing in cases spanning from North India to North America.
Swift Rise Amidst Gang Power Vacuum
Investigators suggest Boxer’s rise to prominence is linked to a power vacuum within the Lawrence Bishnoi syndicate following several setbacks, including the arrest of Anmol Bishnoi and the reported estrangement of Goldy Brar, who was once considered Lawrence Bishnoi’s right-hand man. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had previously stated that the gang had a network of approximately 700 shooters across India, even with Lawrence Bishnoi himself incarcerated.
Boxer’s increasing involvement became particularly evident in connection with recent shootings in Delhi and Haryana. Security agencies reported that Boxer claimed responsibility for an attack on a gym associated with Bollywood singer Guru Randhawa in Delhi’s Paschim Vihar, and the murder of gym trainer Kapil Redhu in Hansi, Haryana. In audio clips linked to these incidents, Boxer allegedly warned Randhawa to stay away from Salman Khan and stated that Redhu was killed for disregarding his advice.
International Operations and Extortion
Investigations indicate that Harry Boxer is operating from the United States and is wanted in numerous cases of murder, extortion, and narcotics in Rajasthan and Delhi. He is also the subject of an Interpol Red Notice. Indian authorities describe him as a weapons supplier for the Bishnoi and Rohit Godara extortion operations, acting on instructions from Anmol Bishnoi. His activities have extended to threatening Bollywood personalities, including an alleged extortion demand of Rs 10 crore from actor Ranveer Singh, conveyed via a voice note from a US phone number. Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch has reportedly contacted US authorities regarding this number.
The modus operandi of the gang, with Boxer allegedly at the forefront of international operations, involves leveraging information scraped from social media and government databases to identify wealthy targets for extortion. The Signal messaging app is reportedly used for communication between key operatives, including Boxer. The gang is also known to hire individuals, referred to as ‘greenhorns,’ to instill fear and carry out intimidation tactics against targets.
Global Network and Legal Actions
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang’s network is extensive, reportedly spanning across India, Canada, the United States, Europe, and the Gulf states, with a significant presence in communities with large Punjabi diaspora populations. Canada has officially listed the Bishnoi gang as a terrorist entity, citing its involvement in extortion and shootings targeting the South Asian diaspora in North America. The gang has been linked to various high-profile crimes, including the assassination of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, and has been accused of targeting members of the Sikh community in Canada, allegedly at the behest of Indian government agencies, a claim denied by Bishnoi.
Legal actions against Boxer include his detention by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in California. Indian authorities are coordinating with international agencies to facilitate his return to India, where he faces multiple charges. His alleged involvement in incidents such as the firing at Kapil Sharma’s café in Surrey, Canada, further underscores the international scope of his alleged criminal activities.
