SRINAGAR: Young individuals across Kashmir are being encouraged to apply for the RISE UP: The Sustainable Kashmir Fellowships 2026–2027, a seven-month program designed to foster personal leadership, ecological entrepreneurship, and purpose-driven careers.
The application window has been opened by MooL Sustainability Research and Training Center, located in Ganderbal. This initiative, supported by Royal Enfield Social Mission, aims to empower young people to build meaningful careers while contributing to sustainable and community-focused development within the region.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, the fellowship is scheduled to run from July 2026 to February 2027. The program will incorporate a blend of residential training, mentorship, field immersions, internships, and practical learning opportunities. Participants will benefit from the guidance of experienced coaches, entrepreneurs, and mentors focused on developing leadership skills, enhancing personal growth, and supporting impactful ventures.
The fellowship curriculum includes residential workshops conducted within Kashmir, a joint learning program and field immersion in Himachal Pradesh in collaboration with The Himalayan Hub, and a two-month internship with partner organizations in Kashmir. Additionally, fellows will receive one-to-one coaching and mentorship, and will participate in the Journeying Across The Himalayas (JATH) Festival, which is set to take place in Delhi. A performance-based monthly stipend and a certificate of completion will also be provided to the fellows.
Eligibility for the fellowship is open to young people aged between 18 and 30 years from all areas of Kashmir. Organizers have stated that a rigorous three-stage selection process will be employed, involving a written application, a phone interview, and a final interview, with only ten fellows expected to be chosen.
Mohammad Arfat Khan, who participated in the 2025–26 cohort, shared his experience, describing the program as transformative. He indicated that the fellowship significantly aided him in developing leadership capabilities, boosting his confidence, and pursuing his objectives with greater effectiveness.
