Srinagar, June 13: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced scheduled power shutdowns in various parts of the Kashmir division over the upcoming days. These interruptions are necessary for essential maintenance and upgrade work on the power distribution network.
Kangan-Surnus Line Shutdown Affects Multiple Areas
Information was available with The Chenab Times that a shutdown of the 33 KV Kangan – Surfraw Line is scheduled to take place on June 15, 2026. This will result in the disruption of power supply to Gund, Kulan, Gagangeer, Sonamarg, Fraw, Ganiwan, and surrounding areas. The shutdown is expected to be in effect from 09 AM to 03 PM.
Zainakote Grid Substation Maintenance
Furthermore, power supply to Zainakote, Bakshipora, Shalteng, Narbal, Snoor Kalipora, Railway Station Mazhama, Shariefabad, Soibugh, Wadwan, Kawoosa Hospital, Noora Hospital, and All India Radio Lawaypora will be affected on June 14, 2026. This is due to a planned shutdown of the 75 MVA, 132/33 KV Bank-I and 50 MVA, 132/33 KV Bank-II at the Grid Substation Zainakote. The power outage is scheduled from 10 AM to 02 PM.
Handwara and Kupwara Areas to Experience Disruptions
In the Handwara and Kupwara regions, power supply will be impacted due to maintenance on the 33 KV Arampora Handwara hot & Kupwara old Line and the 33 KV Amargarh – Nowpora Line. Areas affected include Handwara Town, Chogal, Kulangam, Sagipora, Marathgam, the entire Lolab valley, Machil valley, Nowpora, Seelo, Achabal, Behrampora, Bomai, Bugoo, Dangerpora, Saidhpora, Brath, Hep Dangerpora, and Wadoora. This shutdown is scheduled for June 15, 2026, from 09 AM to 03 PM.
Additionally, a separate shutdown affecting Zachaldara, Rajwar, Hangah, Haril, Lach, Kupwara Town, DC Office, Drugmulla, Nagri, and Batergam will occur on June 17, 2026. This is due to maintenance on the 33 KV Arampora Handwara old & Kupwara hot Line, with the power outage from 09 AM to 03 PM.
Keran and Vilgam Regions Undergoing Maintenance
Power consumers in Keran, Dolipora, Magam, Vilgam, and adjoining areas will also face disruptions. The shutdown of the 33 KV Keran Tap line & Dolipora Tap Line is planned for June 16, 2026, between 09 AM and 03 PM. This measure is being undertaken to ensure the continued reliability of the power infrastructure.
Nihalpora-HMT Line Shutdown
The KPDCL has also announced a shutdown affecting Singhpora, Diver, Mirgund, Duslipoar, SKUAST, Rambilgrah, Kalsari, Shadipora, Odina, Maloora Panjinara, and Ganistan. The 33 KV Nihalpora- HMT Line will be affected on June 15, 2026, from 09 PM to 01 PM. These planned outages are part of routine maintenance to prevent future issues and ensure a stable power supply.
