JAMMU: Security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra are undergoing a comprehensive review, with officials emphasizing the integration of advanced technology to ensure the pilgrimage’s safe and peaceful conduct. The focus is on enhancing surveillance, real-time monitoring, and communication systems for a robust response mechanism.

According to details received by The Chenab Times, a high-level security management and coordination meeting was convened here, chaired by Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu, Joginder Singh. The assembly included senior representatives from the district police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), intelligence agencies, the civil administration, and disaster management authorities.

The primary objective of the deliberations was to guarantee seamless coordination among all involved agencies and stakeholders to facilitate the annual 57-day pilgrimage, which is slated to commence on July 3. The deliberations encompassed crucial aspects such as law and order management, traffic regulation, effective crowd control, border security protocols, efficient emergency response mechanisms, and strengthening inter-agency collaboration.

A significant emphasis was placed on adopting technology-driven security measures. This includes the expansion and enhancement of CCTV surveillance networks, the implementation of real-time monitoring capabilities through integrated control rooms, and bolstering communication infrastructure to enable swift dissemination of information and rapid response in case of any exigency. The SSP Jammu underscored the importance of heightened vigilance, directing all concerned units to intensify patrolling activities, conduct surprise checks, and ensure the strategic positioning of Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) to address any unforeseen circumstances promptly.

Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the significance of community participation and public cooperation in fostering a secure environment throughout the yatra period. Citizens have been urged to remain vigilant and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or control room. Intelligence agencies present at the meeting shared recent security inputs and assessments, reinforcing the commitment to timely intelligence dissemination, regular joint coordination drills, and continuous monitoring of vulnerable areas as key priorities for the duration of the pilgrimage.

In line with preparedness, directions were issued for the conduct of mock drills, the reinforcement of security checkpoints, a thorough review of contingency plans, and the scheduling of weekly review meetings at the sub-divisional level. These sessions are intended to assess the ongoing preparedness and to proactively address any emerging challenges. The SSP reiterated that the safety and security of both pilgrims and residents remain the paramount concern. He emphasized that a combination of proactive policing, robust inter-agency coordination, and active public engagement will be instrumental in maintaining peace, security, and stability across Jammu district during the Amarnath Yatra.
