Jammu and Kashmir: Woman’s Body Recovered from Ganderbal Power Canal, Search Ongoing for Missing Man

SRINAGAR: A 21-year-old woman’s body was recovered from a power canal in the Gund area of Kangan, Ganderbal district, on Monday. Rescue operations are continuing to search for a man who is also feared drowned at the same location.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that the incident occurred in the power canal near Gund, where two individuals reportedly went missing, triggering an extensive rescue operation involving local authorities and volunteers.

Following the report of the drowning, teams comprising personnel from the police, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and local volunteers were immediately dispatched to the site. They initiated a comprehensive search along the course of the power canal.

After several hours of intense searching, rescue teams successfully recovered the body of the woman. She was subsequently transferred for necessary legal and post-mortem procedures.

The search for the second missing person, a man, remains ongoing. Rescuers were meticulously combing the canal and surrounding areas. As of the time of reporting, his whereabouts were still unknown.

Officials stated that the rescue and search operation was actively continuing, and further details regarding the incident and the ongoing efforts were expected to be released as they become available.
