The Union Territory of Ladakh’s School Education Department has initiated a significant reshuffle, transferring and posting 14 officials, including principals, zonal education officers, and headmasters. The move, aimed at administrative efficiency, was formalized through an official order issued on Tuesday.
Information was available with The Chenab Times indicating that the transfers were executed in the interest of public administration, with approval from the competent authority. The order, numbered 43-LA (SED) of 2026, was officially notified by Bhanu Prabha, IAS, the Administrative Secretary of the School Education Department.
Among the key appointments, Sonam Dorjay Namgail has been transferred from the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) in Kargil to DIET Leh, where he will serve as Principal. In another senior-level change, Sonam Smanla has been moved from Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Sankoo to GHSS Khalsi. Tsewang Paljor, previously stationed at Khalsi, has been assigned the role of Deputy Chief Education Officer in Kharu.
Further adjustments include the transfer of Begum Zebun Nissa from GHSS Tangtse to PM Shri GHSS Thiksay. Tsewang Dolma has been appointed Head of Department at DIET Leh, following her transfer from GHSS Turtuk. The reshuffle also impacts Zonal Education Officers and headmasters.
Hussain Hakim has been posted as Zonal Education Officer for Nyoma, having previously served at Government High School Nimoo. Shakeela Parveen will now serve as Senior Headmaster at PM Shri Government High School Shey, after her transfer from Nyoma. Mohsin Ali has been transferred from Shey to DIET Leh. Dawa Putit has been appointed as the In-Charge Headmaster at Government High School Nimoo.
Sangay Phuntsog has been assigned the charge of PM Shri Government High School Chuchot Yokma. He had been attached to the Chief Education Officer’s office since March of this year. Sonam Dolma’s transfer places her at Chushot Gongma, moving from Gia. Kunzang Dorje has been posted as Zonal Education Planning Officer in Khalsi, after completing a tenure at Wanla.
Naz Parveen has been transferred from Thasgam Sankoo to Biathang Shilikchay. Mohd Ishaq will now be posted to Thasgam Sankoo, following his transfer from Yokma Kharboo. Additionally, to address critical vacancies in schools lacking regular headmasters, the department has placed Masters Thinless Angmo and Deachan Nilza Angmo at the disposal of the Chief Education Officer, Leh. They will temporarily assume headmaster duties in their respective vacant posts until permanent appointments are finalized.
