SRINAGAR: A Pakistani national, apprehended earlier this month, was repatriated to Pakistan-held Kashmir on Thursday through the Teetwal Friendship Bridge in the Karnah sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, following the completion of all legal and procedural formalities.
The Chenab Times has learned that Assad Khan, son of Janzab Khan and a resident of Muzaffarabad, was apprehended on June 12. After thorough investigation and verification, authorities initiated the process for his repatriation via the designated crossing point.
The handover ceremony took place at the Teetwal Friendship Bridge. Present were the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Karnah; Tehsildar Karnah; Army officers, including representatives from the 06 Mahar Regiment; and the Station House Officer of Karnah, along with other relevant officials.
Officials stated that the repatriation was conducted smoothly and in an orderly manner, a process coordinated with the pertinent authorities on both sides of the Line of Control.
The Teetwal crossing point has historically functioned as a significant channel for humanitarian exchanges and administrative procedures, facilitating approved cross-border movements and repatriation efforts.
All necessary formalities were completed before the Pakistani national was handed over to the authorities situated across the Line of Control.
