A 33-year-old woman from Chhattisgarh was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband following an argument at a brick kiln in Hoshiarpur district of Punjab on Friday morning. The incident took place in Dagan village, under the jurisdiction of Hajipur police station, prompting an immediate police investigation.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that the deceased has been identified as Jyoti, a native of Chhattisgarh, who was working as a migrant labourer along with her husband, Lakshmi Narayan, at the kiln. According to preliminary reports from the police, the fatal altercation occurred around 2 am when the couple engaged in a dispute over an unspecified issue.

Station House Officer Harpreet Singh confirmed that the police received information about the incident and dispatched teams to the location. Upon arrival, it was discovered that Jyoti had sustained fatal stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The accused husband, Lakshmi Narayan, is alleged to have attacked Jyoti with a knife during the heated argument.

A forensic team was promptly called to the crime scene. Officials are meticulously collecting evidence and examining the site to piece together the sequence of events leading to the tragedy. The exact motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained as investigations are ongoing.

An FIR has been registered against the husband, Lakshmi Narayan, by the police. Authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend the accused, who reportedly fled the scene after the alleged stabbing. Further investigation into the matter is in progress, with police interviewing witnesses and collecting forensic data.

The incident highlights the precarious living conditions and potential domestic strife faced by migrant labourers often residing in isolated work sites. Such incidents underscore the need for enhanced support systems and monitoring for vulnerable populations working away from their home states. The police have assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted to bring the perpetrator to justice and understand the circumstances that led to this fatal outcome.
