Srinagar, June 21: The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh observed the 12th International Yoga Day with significant participation and enthusiasm at its complex in Srinagar. The event, held under the directives of the Chief Justice (A), saw judicial officers and registry staff engage in yoga sessions aimed at promoting well-being and stress management.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the central figure at the event was Mr. Justice Sanjay Dhar, Judge of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, who led the yoga proceedings. The celebration underscored the importance of yoga for professionals, particularly those within the legal fraternity, in balancing demanding work schedules with personal health.
The programme, which commenced at 8:00 a.m., followed the Common Yoga Protocol. Trained instructors from the Directorate of AYUSH, headed by Dr. Peerzada Altaf Ahmad Shah, guided participants through various asanas, pranayama, and meditation techniques. This year’s International Yoga Day theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” was central to the session’s focus.
Attendees included the Registrar General of the High Court, the Member Secretary of the J&K Legal Services Authority, the Director of the J&K Judicial Academy, the Registrar Judicial of Srinagar, alongside other senior officials and a considerable number of staff members. Their active involvement highlighted a collective commitment to integrating yoga into daily routines.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Justice Sanjay Dhar spoke about the therapeutic benefits of yoga. He emphasized its role in enhancing concentration, discipline, and mental clarity, qualities he noted are crucial for the effective administration of justice. His Lordship also extended his appreciation to the Registry for their organizational efforts and encouraged all present to make yoga a regular part of their lives.
The venue was decorated with banners that illustrated the myriad health benefits associated with the practice of yoga. The event concluded with a pledge taken by the participants to embrace yoga for their personal well-being and for the betterment of the community. The celebration served as a reminder of yoga’s profound impact on physical and mental health.
