A 26-year-old woman has died after the motorcycle taxi she was a passenger on skidded on the Shahdara flyover in Delhi, the police reported on Monday. The incident occurred while the woman was en route to her workplace.
Information was available with The Chenab Times indicating that the deceased has been identified as Neelam, a resident of Karawal Nagar. The accident took place as she was travelling to her job in the Jhilmil area.
The police received notification from GTB Hospital about a woman admitted with severe injuries. Upon inquiry, authorities learned that Neelam had hired a motorcycle taxi service to commute to her workplace. It is alleged that the motorcycle skidded on the Shahdara flyover, resulting in serious injuries to Neelam.
She was promptly transported to the hospital following the accident. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries, according to an official statement.
Authorities have registered a case against the motorcycle taxi rider, identified as Dharamvir, who has since been apprehended. The police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity of the flyover to reconstruct the events leading up to the accident. Further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
