Kollur, Karnataka – Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan visited the Kollur Mookambika Devi Temple in Udupi district, Karnataka, on Saturday morning to offer special prayers. This visit marks his first pilgrimage to the renowned shrine since assuming office as Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister arrived at the temple under Z-plus security and participated in the early morning rituals, seeking the blessings of Goddess Mookambika. Following the darshan, temple authorities felicitated Mr. Satheesan.
Kollur Mookambika Temple, situated in the Byndoor Taluk of Udupi district, is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site dedicated to Goddess Mookambika. The temple is located in the foothills of Kodachadri hills, on the southern bank of the Souparnika River. Its architectural style blends elements of Kerala and Dravidian traditions. The temple is considered one of the most important Shakti shrines in South India and is particularly revered by devotees from Kerala.
While the temple is located in Karnataka, it holds significant cultural and religious importance for the people of Kerala, with many devotees undertaking journeys to the shrine. This visit by the Kerala Chief Minister highlights the enduring cultural and religious ties that bridge the two South Indian states.
Mr. Satheesan’s official tour program indicated that he arrived in Mangaluru on Friday night by an Air India flight from Thiruvananthapuram and traveled by road to Kollur, staying in a private hotel. He was scheduled to depart for Bengaluru via Mangaluru on Saturday morning, and then travel to Kochi.
