Television actor Rohit Chandel has been arrested by Mumbai Police following accusations of stalking, harassment, and assault involving a 16-year-old girl. The 29-year-old actor was apprehended at his residence in Dahisar and subsequently produced before a special POCSO court, which remanded him to police custody.

The case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, along with relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including those pertaining to stalking and causing hurt. According to the complaint filed, Chandel allegedly made persistent phone calls to the minor from his personal number and other phone numbers, causing her distress and harassment. The complaint further details an incident on July 5, where Chandel allegedly confronted the girl near her residential building, chased her, engaged in a verbal altercation, abused her, and physically assaulted her.

Rohit Chandel is known for his roles in television shows such as ‘Pandya Store,’ where he played Dhawal Makwana, and ‘Kashibai Bajirao Ballal,’ in which he portrayed Baji Rao. He has also appeared in the TV series ‘Sairaab.’ Police sources indicated that the accused and the minor were known to each other.

The Pant Nagar Police are investigating the matter further. The arrest follows a complaint lodged by a resident of an eastern suburb of Mumbai. Officials have stated that the investigation is ongoing.
