FACT CHECK: Viral Videos of Public Hangings and Beatings Falsely Linked to Sri Ganganagar Rape Case

In the wake of the horrific rape case involving a 13-year-old minor in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan, social media has been flooded with severe misinformation. Several distressing videos—purportedly showing the accused being publicly paraded, beaten with sticks, and even hanged from a crane—are going viral across various platforms.

Users are sharing these clips with captions claiming that the local public or law enforcement in Rajasthan has delivered “instant justice” to the perpetrators.

The Chenab Times investigated these claims and found them to be completely false and misleading. The viral videos are entirely unrelated to the Sri Ganganagar incident.

The Claims

Currently, two primary videos are circulating on social media linked to the Sri Ganganagar case:

  1. The Crane Hanging Video: A video showing four “bodies” hanging from a crane in the middle of a massive crowd.
  2. The Public Beating Video: A clip showing men being publicly paraded and mercilessly beaten with sticks.

The Chenab Times Investigation

To verify the authenticity of these viral claims, The Chenab Times directly reached out to police officials in Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan.

Speaking directly to The Chenab Times, Sri Ganganagar Police officials categorically denied the claims, stating, “All these videos are fake, we are just submitting a chargesheet and the court trial is yet to begin.”

The officials further clarified that they are actively working to curb the spread of this misinformation. “We have issued a public appeal that these videos are unrelated and not from Rajasthan,” the police added, confirming that no such acts of public vigilantism or mob justice have occurred in connection to the arrested accused.

The Truth Behind the Viral Videos

A closer analysis of the videos reveals their true origins:

Aaj Tak reported actual incident from Gujarat.

The Sri Ganganagar police and local administration have taken strict action against the actual perpetrators, arresting numerous accused and demolishing the hotels where the crime occurred. However, the trial is still pending in the judicial system.
Sharing unrelated, sensationalized videos of public violence and executions only serves to spread fake news and create public panic. The Chenab Times urges netizens and our readers not to share or forward unverified videos and to rely solely on official police statements and credible news sources.
