Himachal Pradesh Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani stated that an exposure visit by Industrial Training Institute (ITI) students to Kazakhstan has significantly enhanced their understanding of modern technology and global work practices.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the minister, who personally led a delegation of 30 ITI students, returned to Bilaspur today. The visit, organized by the Department of Technical Education, Vocational and Industrial Training, aimed to familiarize the trainees with contemporary industries, advanced engineering systems, international educational standards, and innovation hubs.
Minister Dharmani elaborated on the program’s objectives, emphasizing its role in equipping ITI trainees with the necessary technical proficiencies and preparing them for the evolving demands of the industrial sector. He highlighted that such international study tours are instrumental in fostering innovation, cultivating a commitment to quality, instilling discipline, building self-confidence, and broadening the global perspective among young individuals.
The Director of Technical Education, Rohit Rathore, who accompanied the delegation, provided details about the itinerary. The students had the opportunity to visit a range of industrial establishments and educational institutions. Among these was the Samal Water Bottling Plant, where they observed a sophisticated water purification unit and witnessed automated bottle manufacturing processes. At the Rakhat Chocolate Factory, the trainees gained practical insights into chocolate production and the operational dynamics of a large-scale food processing industry.
Further enriching their learning experience, the delegation explored the Green Market. Here, they studied local agricultural produce, traditional handicrafts, indigenous food items, and market management strategies. This exposure provided them with a comprehensive understanding of the diverse facets of the local economy and entrepreneurial activities prevalent in Kazakhstan.
Academics from Kazakhstan also contributed to the students’ learning. Associate Professor Aitolkin Ashimova of Turan University addressed the students on the critical importance of effective communication in professional settings. Additionally, Professor Alisher Kadyrov offered insights into the ongoing reforms within Kazakhstan’s higher education system, providing context on the nation’s educational advancements.
The visit aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge imparted in ITIs and the practical requirements of global industries. By observing advanced manufacturing processes, understanding innovative technologies, and engaging with international educational methodologies, the students are expected to be better prepared for future career opportunities both domestically and internationally. The program underscored the Himachal Pradesh government’s commitment to providing its youth with exposure to global standards and best practices, thereby enhancing their competitiveness in the job market.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy to modernize technical and vocational education in Himachal Pradesh, ensuring that trainees are equipped with skills relevant to emerging industries and global economic trends. The exposure visit is anticipated to foster a new wave of innovation and entrepreneurial spirit among the participating students, encouraging them to apply their learnings to local contexts and contribute to the state’s development.
The curriculum at ITIs in Himachal Pradesh is continuously reviewed and updated to align with industry needs. However, direct exposure to international workplaces and educational institutions offers an invaluable dimension to this educational process. The experience gained in Kazakhstan is expected to serve as a benchmark for future international programs designed to benefit students from the state. The interactions with both industry professionals and academics in Kazakhstan provided the students with a multifaceted understanding of professional environments, technological applications, and educational frameworks.
