SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across various parts of the Kashmir division. These interruptions are necessary to undertake essential maintenance and repair work on critical transmission lines, according to official statements.
According to details received by The Chenab Times, the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, stated that several key lines will be affected over the coming weeks. The 33 KV Sharifabad–Narbal line is slated for a shutdown on July 18. This will impact power supply to Narbal, Kawoosa, Lawaypora, Suzaith, Sanoor, Malpora, Redbugh, Railway Station Mazhama, and surrounding areas. The shutdowns are planned for brief periods, from 10:00 am to 10:30 am and again from 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm, on the specified date.
Further disruptions are scheduled for the 33 KV KP Bagh line. This line will be under shutdown on July 20, July 23, and July 27. Consequently, power supply to KP Bagh, Soiteng, PHE, Mehjoor Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Kursoo Rajbagh, Zero Bridge, Gogjibagh, Lalmandi, and adjacent localities will be interrupted for extended durations, from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm on each of these days.
The KPDCL also informed that the 33 KV Exhibition line and the 33 KV Silk Factory line will experience shutdowns on July 20. These works will affect electricity supply to areas including Exhibition, Baranpather, Batamaloo, Danderkha, Silk Factory, Allochibagh, Rambagh, LD Hospital, Old Barzulla, Solina, and other nearby regions. The power interruptions for these lines are scheduled to last from 8:00 am to 11:00 am.
Additionally, the 33 KV Pampore–SIDCO line is scheduled for a shutdown on July 19. This maintenance activity will disrupt power supply to industrial estates Khrew and Cement Plants, Pampore, Khadermoh, Zewan, Tengan, and adjoining areas. The power interruptions are expected to be in effect from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm on the day of the shutdown.
In a significant announcement, the 132 KV Zainakote–Patan–Magam Line, specifically Circuit-I, will also be shut down on July 18. This shutdown is set to affect power supply to Magam, Beerwah, Mazhama, Kongamdara, Kunzer, Dhobiwan, Khag, Aripanthan, Arizal, and surrounding localities. The maintenance work on this vital line will take place from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.
The KPDCL has urged consumers in the affected areas to cooperate during these essential maintenance periods. The scheduled shutdowns are part of ongoing efforts to ensure the reliability and stability of the power distribution network across the Kashmir division. Further updates regarding any changes to the schedule will be disseminated by the corporation as necessary.
