Andhra Pradesh Police Recover ₹16 Lakh in Gold Jewellery, Arrest Woman

The Darsi police in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh have arrested a woman and recovered approximately ₹16 lakh worth of gold jewellery. The recovery is linked to a theft case that was registered in October 2025.

According to details obtained by The Chenab Times, the police detained Satupati Kumari of Sai Nagar, Darsi, near Sanskriti School on Addanki Road. The recovered items include necklaces, chains, earrings, and bangles, weighing a total of 128 grams.

The incident leading to the recovery began in October 2025 when Chennamshetty Sumalatha of Darsi lost a handbag containing gold ornaments while traveling by bus from Tripurantakam to Darsi. She subsequently filed a complaint with the Darsi Town police. Acting on credible information, the police were able to apprehend the suspect and recover the stolen property.

During interrogation, Kumari reportedly confessed to the theft. Police have indicated that the accused has been involved in previous theft cases and will be produced before a local court.
