SRINAGAR: A six-year-old girl sustained injuries after a leopard entered her family’s home in the Laitri Wali Behak forest area of Keller, Shopian district, in South Kashmir on Thursday.
The Chenab Times has learned that the wild animal attacked the minor girl shortly after entering the residential house. The injured child was promptly transported to the District Hospital Shopian for immediate medical attention and is currently receiving treatment.
The victim has been identified as Aafia Jan, the six-year-old daughter of Farooq Ahmad Tedwa, a resident of Zrakan Shalidar, Keller.
Following the incident, local police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the leopard’s entry into the house and the subsequent attack.
Wild animal incursions into residential areas have become a recurring concern in several parts of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in regions bordering forests.
