Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of obstructing his speech in Parliament where he intended to raise the issue of alleged atrocities against students, holding Home Minister Amit Shah responsible.
The Chenab Times has learned that Gandhi, speaking on Wednesday, asserted that while the ruling party could mute his microphone, they could not silence the ‘chhatron ki goonj,’ or the voice of the students.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Gandhi detailed his attempt to address the alleged brutality faced by students in Delhi. He stated that he had explicitly named the Home Minister as responsible for the situation but was prevented from speaking further by the BJP.
Gandhi further indicated that he would address the points he was unable to convey in the parliamentary session at a subsequent press conference. He reiterated his assertion that the government’s actions to prevent him from speaking in the House were futile in suppressing the broader student sentiment.
Speaking to reporters outside the Parliament House complex, Gandhi presented two potential scenarios regarding the Home Minister’s alleged role in the incidents. He posited that either the Home Minister had ordered the action against protesters, making him culpable, or that the Home Minister was unaware of the impending actions, indicating incompetence. Gandhi questioned the Home Minister’s absence from the House, challenging him to be present if he had nothing to conceal.
The Congress leader emphasized his right to speak within Parliament and called for the Home Minister to address the concerns raised. The situation underscores ongoing political tensions and debates surrounding the government’s handling of student-related issues and parliamentary proceedings.
