A 17-year-old girl from Delhi has been allegedly raped by a friend, leading to her pregnancy, according to police reports. The incident reportedly took place at a hotel in Gurugram, Haryana.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the victim, a native of Samastipur, Bihar, resides with her family in a rented accommodation in Delhi’s Vikas Nagar. She had reportedly known the accused since 2025.
Authorities are investigating allegations that between January 1 and March 22 of the current year, the accused took the minor to a hotel in Sikanderpur, located on Gurugram’s MG Road, on multiple occasions and assaulted her. The matter surfaced recently when the teenager fell ill and her family sought medical attention.
A medical examination at the hospital confirmed her pregnancy. Due to the victim’s age, the hospital administration alerted the police. Subsequently, a zero first information report (FIR) was registered at Delhi’s Ranhola police station. Following this, a case has been formally registered under Section 64(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at the DLF Phase-1 police station in Gurugram.
A senior police official stated that the investigation is ongoing, and hotel records are being examined. The official indicated that the accused is expected to be apprehended soon. The legal framework surrounding such cases, particularly the POCSO Act, aims to protect children and ensure stringent punishment for offenders involved in sexual exploitation.
The BNS, which replaced the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in 2023, contains updated provisions for sexual offences. Section 64(1) of the BNS deals with offences against children, and its application in this case underscores the seriousness with which such allegations are treated. The POCSO Act, enacted in 2012, provides a robust legal framework for the protection of children from sexual abuse and exploitation, defining a child as any person below the age of 18 years.
The investigation will likely involve corroborating the victim’s account with evidence gathered from the hotel and digital records. Police are expected to collect witness statements and conduct further inquiries to establish the sequence of events. The prompt registration of the FIR and subsequent case is a procedural step to initiate a formal investigation and ensure justice for the victim.
