A woman in Ludhiana has reportedly suffered a miscarriage after her husband allegedly administered a poisonous substance to her in a drink. The incident occurred after the pregnant woman confronted her husband about an alleged illicit relationship.
The Chenab Times has learned that an FIR has been registered against the accused husband, identified as Sukhwinder Singh of Shimlapuri, following a complaint lodged by his wife, Harleen Kaur. The couple reportedly married in December 2024.
According to the complainant, she confronted her husband after becoming aware of his alleged extramarital affair. She stated that upon her objection and request for him to cease the relationship, Sukhwinder Singh refused to comply. The complainant further alleged that her husband threatened to end their marriage if she persisted in raising the issue.
Harleen Kaur claimed that her husband reacted with anger rather than happiness when she informed him about her pregnancy. She alleged that he stated he would find a way to deal with the pregnancy, making her fearful for her well-being.
The incident leading to the miscarriage allegedly took place on June 6. Harleen Kaur stated that her husband mixed a poisonous substance into a juice and offered it to her. Following consumption, she began to bleed, which subsequently resulted in the termination of her pregnancy.
The Shimlapuri police station has registered a case based on the complaint. Investigating Officer ASI Salwinder Singh confirmed that an investigation is underway. Police have reportedly launched efforts to apprehend the accused husband, with raids being conducted in an effort to locate and arrest him. Further details regarding the specific nature of the poisonous substance and the extent of the husband’s alleged involvement are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
