Two firefighters lost their lives and three others sustained injuries while battling a major fire that erupted at an electronic chip manufacturing unit in Greater Noida on Monday night. The incident occurred in the Ecotech-3 industrial area at the ILGIM company.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the fire department was alerted about the blaze late Monday night, prompting the dispatch of at least six fire brigade vehicles to the scene. Firefighters commenced efforts to control the flames.
Tragically, their efforts were interrupted when a wall and an iron beam inside the factory premises suddenly collapsed. The structural failure resulted in injuries to five firefighters who were present at the time. Emergency services immediately transported the injured personnel to a nearby hospital via ambulance.
At the hospital, Fireman Rohit Yadav and Head Constable Driver Tirathpal were declared dead due to their injuries. The condition of the three other injured firefighters, Head Constable Driver Rajpal Singh and Firemen Manish Kumar and Amit Kumar, has been reported as out of danger, and they are currently receiving medical treatment.
Following the incident, senior police officials, accompanied by a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), arrived at the factory site. An investigation into the cause of the fire has been initiated, and authorities have stated that necessary legal actions are being taken.
