Ludhiana, Punjab – Ahead of the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Security for Punjab, Kaustabh Sharma, conducted an extensive review of security arrangements across Ludhiana district. The visit aimed to bolster preparedness and ensure foolproof security protocols for the state-level event.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that ADGP Sharma was accompanied by Swapan Sharma, Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, along with other senior officers from the Police Commissionerate. The delegation undertook a series of strategic inspections and participated in high-level review meetings throughout the day.
The ADGP initiated the security assessment with a surprise inspection at the Static Naka located on the Chandigarh-Ludhiana Highway at Katani Kalan. This critical entry point into the Commissionerate boundaries was evaluated for its perimeter surveillance capabilities and vehicular checking procedures.
Following the highway check, ADGP Sharma inspected Police Station Jamalpur. During his visit, he interacted with station personnel, reviewing their operational readiness and providing briefings on heightened vigilance, rapid response protocols, and public safety measures. This interaction underscored the importance of ground-level preparedness in the overall security strategy.
A crucial coordination meeting was convened at the Police Lines, Ludhiana, bringing together all Gazetted Officers (GOs) of the Commissionerate. The discussions focused on force deployment strategies, comprehensive counter-threat measures, and refined traffic management plans designed to facilitate the smooth conduct of the Independence Day festivities.
The delegation also visited the official event venue at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana. Inspections covered the venue’s entry and exit routes, seating arrangements, designated parking zones, and multi-tier security perimeters. Specific directives were issued to ensure the efficient and secure execution of the event.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADGP Security, Punjab, stated that the Punjab Police is fully committed to ensuring a safe and seamless environment for the Independence Day celebrations. He highlighted that the day’s inspections at entry check-posts, local police stations, and the main PAU venue demonstrated a high level of operational readiness. Strict vigil, he added, is being maintained across all sensitive points, with multi-tier security layers activated throughout the region.
The Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, informed the press that the Ludhiana Commissionerate Police have mobilized extensive logistics, enhanced tech-enabled surveillance systems, and implemented round-the-clock patrolling across the city under the guidance of the ADGP Security. Assurances were given to citizens that comprehensive security measures are in place at the PAU venue and key entry points, enabling everyone to celebrate Independence Day with peace of mind.
Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma further stated that a detailed security plan has been finalized, with adequate arrangements in place to monitor anti-social elements and potential threats. The proactive approach aims to ensure the safety and security of the public during the national celebrations.
