SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism department has been awarded the Best Adventure Tourism Destination award at the recent Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF) held in Ahmedabad. The Union Territory was recognised for its diverse adventure tourism offerings, which were showcased during the three-day event.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the participation in TTF Ahmedabad, a significant event for the travel industry, provided a platform for Jammu and Kashmir to highlight its potential as a prime destination for adventure activities to travel trade representatives, tourism stakeholders, and a broad spectrum of visitors.
During the fair, the delegation from Jammu and Kashmir Tourism actively promoted the Union Territory’s unique landscapes, which include snow-capped mountains and pristine lakes. Beyond conventional sightseeing, the focus was on promoting the region’s rich culture, traditions, distinctive cuisine, renowned hospitality, and the local way of life. This comprehensive approach aimed to attract a wider range of travellers, particularly from Gujarat and other parts of the country.
The promotional efforts specifically invited potential visitors to explore a variety of adventure experiences available in Jammu and Kashmir. These include popular activities such as trekking through its scenic trails, white-water rafting, skiing on its slopes, mountaineering in its high-altitude regions, and paragliding offering breathtaking aerial views. The promotion also laid significant emphasis on experiential travel, targeting younger demographics eager for unique and engaging journeys.
Furthermore, the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism department showcased its growing homestay sector, community-based tourism initiatives, and heritage experiences. The delegation underscored the potential of these segments to foster sustainable livelihood opportunities for local residents, while simultaneously offering visitors an authentic immersion into the local culture and the warm hospitality characteristic of the region. This focus aligns with a broader strategy to promote responsible and inclusive tourism.
The TTF Ahmedabad provided a crucial opportunity for Jammu and Kashmir Tourism to engage directly with travel operators and other key stakeholders from Gujarat. This interaction aimed at strengthening existing partnerships and forging new collaborations to enhance tourism promotion and business networking. The event, which brought together various tourism boards, travel companies, hospitality brands, and other industry players from both India and abroad, served as a vital platform for destination promotion and industry networking.
