Punjab village shooting: Man killed, brother injured over old enmity in Kapurthala

A 24-year-old man was fatally shot and his younger brother sustained serious injuries in Bishanpur Jattan village near Kapurthala late Tuesday night. The attack, reportedly stemming from an old enmity, involved two motorcycle-borne assailants.

The deceased has been identified as Lovepreet Singh, also known as Labba, a resident of Bishanpur Jattan. His younger brother, Harshdeep, also sustained bullet wounds and was immediately transported to Civil Hospital, Kapurthala, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that the incident triggered widespread panic within the village. Upon receiving notification of the shooting, a police team, led by DSP Dr. Sheetal Singh, arrived at the scene to assess the situation. Authorities have secured Lovepreet Singh’s body and have commenced a thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to the deadly firing.

A forensic team was also summoned to the site of the incident. Investigators have tasked the team with collecting crucial evidence that will aid in reconstructing the sequence of events and identifying the individuals responsible for the attack. Preliminary reports indicate that the assailants were known to the victims.

DSP Sheetal Singh confirmed that the identities of the individuals allegedly involved in the shooting have been established by the police.
