Lalit Kumar Dogra, a youth leader and social worker from Himachal Pradesh, has been selected to represent India at an international youth program in Russia. The program, focused on youth initiatives and cultural exchange, will take place from August 12 to August 18 in the Tyumen region of Russia, coinciding with International Youth Day.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that Dogra will participate in the “New Generation” program as an international delegate. This opportunity is part of a broader international youth exchange initiative, facilitated by the BRICS Youth Alliance and the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) of Russia. The program aims to foster international youth cooperation, facilitate the exchange of experiences, and provide delegates with insights into Russian culture, society, and various sectoral developments.
Dogra, who is also a National Service Scheme (NSS) award recipient, expressed that his participation extends beyond personal achievement. He views it as a significant responsibility to amplify the voices of India’s youth, volunteers, and social change leaders on a global platform. He intends to share his experiences concerning India’s youth demographic, the impact of volunteering, social development efforts, and the engagement of urban youth.
The selection marks a significant international exposure for Dogra, who previously represented India at the United Nations Responsible Business and Human Rights Forum, Asia-Pacific, held at the United Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand. This prior engagement provided him with experience in representing national interests in international forums concerning business ethics and human rights.
Currently, Dogra serves as a Youth Coordinator within the Urban Youth Unit at the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) in New Delhi. This role positions him within a national institution focused on urban development and policy, allowing him to engage directly with issues pertinent to young people in urban environments. His work at NIUA likely informs his perspective on youth engagement and social development, which he will be sharing in Russia.
The international youth program in Russia is designed to bring together young delegates from various countries. Participants are expected to gain a deeper understanding of different societal structures and youth-led initiatives. The agenda includes opportunities for cultural immersion and dialogue, fostering a sense of global citizenship and collaborative problem-solving among young leaders.
