Jammu and Kashmir: Pedestrian Dies as Load Carrier Plunges into Nallah in Bandipora

BANDIPORA, Jammu and Kashmir: A 32-year-old man was killed in Bandipora district on Friday when a load carrier, allegedly travelling at high speed, breached a safety barrier and fell into the Madhumati Nallah.

The Chenab Times has learned that the tragic incident occurred near the District Police Lines and Employment Exchange in Dachigam, where the victim, Irshad Ahmad Bhat, a resident of the same Dachigam area, was seated on the bund of the Nallah. The speeding load carrier reportedly lost control, crashed through a chain-link fence, and plunged into the water body, fatally striking Bhat in the process.

Bhat sustained severe injuries and was immediately transported to the District Hospital Bandipora. Medical professionals at the hospital declared him dead upon arrival.

The driver of the load carrier, who was also reportedly injured in the accident, has been taken into custody by the local police. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the circumstances that led to the vehicle losing control and the subsequent fatal accident.
