New Delhi, Aug 18: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday dismissed an appeal by Jasir Bilal Wani, also known as Danish, seeking default bail in connection with the 2025 Red Fort car bomb blast case.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that a bench comprising Justices Prathiba M Singh and Vikas Mahajan upheld a trial court’s order from March 30, which had previously rejected Wani’s plea for default bail. The court stated that the accused was not entitled to such bail after the stipulated 90-day period for investigation had passed.
Default bail is granted to an accused if the investigating agency fails to file a chargesheet within the legally prescribed timeframe. Wani, identified as a Kashmiri and an alleged active co-conspirator, was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in November 2025.
The NIA has accused Wani of providing technical support for terror attacks, including modifying drones and attempting to manufacture rockets. The agency further claims that he collaborated closely with Umar un Nabi, identified as the suicide bomber responsible for the Red Fort explosion, in planning the attack.
The incident occurred on November 10, 2025, when a Hyundai i20 car detonated near the Red Fort, resulting in the deaths of 15 individuals and leaving several others injured. Umar un Nabi was subsequently identified as the suicide bomber who carried out the fatal blast.
