Anti-Ragging Week Culminates at Patiala’s Khalsa College with Student Competitions

PATIALA: An extensive Anti-Ragging Week, observed from August 12 to August 18, concluded at General Shivdev Singh Diwan Gurbachan Singh Khalsa College in Patiala with a prize distribution ceremony on Friday. The event celebrated the active participation of students in various activities designed to promote awareness and prevent ragging within the institution.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that the Anti-Ragging Cell of the college had organized a series of competitions throughout the week. These included slogan writing, poster making, and an anti-ragging awareness challenge, all aimed at engaging students creatively in the anti-ragging campaign.

In the slogan-writing competition, Havandeep Kaur from BCom III secured the first position. Hansimran Kaur of BCom I and Yashmeet Kaur from MA English II were awarded second and third places, respectively. Manvir, a student of BA Political Science I, received a special Jury Selection Award for their contribution.

The poster-making competition also saw significant student involvement. Simran, pursuing BA Fine Arts I, emerged as the winner. Gurleen Kaur, a first-year MSc Geography student, claimed the second position, while Gurmeet Kaur from BSc Agriculture I secured the third place. Parmeet Kaur, also in BSc Agriculture I, was recognized with the Jury Selection Award.

The anti-ragging awareness challenge identified Avneet Kaur of MA English II as the first-place winner. Manpreet Kaur, a BA III student, secured the second position, and Navjeet Kaur from BSc CSM took home the third prize.

Beyond the competitive events, the college also acknowledged the efforts of its student volunteers. Certificates of appreciation were presented to four individuals who served as best volunteers for the anti-ragging squad. Their commitment and valuable contributions were instrumental in the successful execution of the week-long activities, reinforcing the college’s dedication to fostering a safe and respectful campus environment.
