Jaipur, Rajasthan: Cross-First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed following an altercation between members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and local villagers during the CJP team’s inspection of a government school in Jaipur. The CJP accused villagers of being “BJP goons,” while the villagers alleged the CJP team’s presence caused fear and disruption.

Information was available with The Chenab Times that the incident occurred on Friday when a CJP team visited Rampura Kanwarpura village to assess the condition of a government school. A confrontation erupted between the CJP members and local residents, leading to reciprocal accusations of assault and creating a disturbance.

The government school in question had been operating from a cattle enclosure after its building was declared unsafe. Authorities relocated students to new premises on Saturday morning following the incident.

According to Rajesh Gautam, Station House Officer (SHO) of Shivdaspura, a local villager lodged a complaint on Friday night. The complaint alleged that CJP members arrived in significant numbers, intimidating residents and causing fear among children, which consequently led to a decline in school attendance.

SHO Gautam further stated that a second FIR was registered based on a complaint filed by a CJP member. This complaint alleged that the CJP team members were assaulted during the encounter and demanded the swift arrest of all individuals involved in the alleged attack.

Ashutosh Ranka, co-convenor of the CJP, responded to the FIR by alleging that the individuals who confronted his team were “goons” mobilised by leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He asserted that the CJP possesses video evidence and other proof to substantiate their claims.

Purported video footage circulating from the incident depicts a large group of individuals engaged in a heated exchange with the CJP team, with instances of pushing and shoving as the team attempted to enter the village. Some clips also appeared to show damaged car windows, reportedly belonging to the CJP team’s vehicles.

Villagers, who allegedly included BJP workers, reportedly erected barricades and physically repelled the CJP team. The CJP team was on a visit to the government school as part of their ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign, which aims to improve educational infrastructure.

The villagers, in their defence, claimed that the government had already allocated funds for the repair of the school building and that such work could be completed through local initiatives. They questioned the necessity of external intervention.

The police are currently investigating both FIRs. The situation highlights ongoing tensions surrounding community engagement and the condition of public facilities in the region.
