Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has stated that any Hindu who believes Muslims should not be in India is not a true Hindu. Bhagwat made these remarks during an address at the One World: One Humanity Faith Leaders’ Summit held in New York.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that Bhagwat emphasized India’s tradition of providing refuge to all communities. He articulated that individuals who could not find a safe haven elsewhere in the world often found a home in India. The RSS, he explained, operates under the principle that humanity is one and it is their duty to spread this message globally, highlighting unity amidst diversity.
Addressing concerns raised by Muslim community members regarding their place in a Hindu Rashtra, Bhagwat clarified the RSS’s stance. He said that the idea of driving Muslims out does not align with Hindutva. “If any Hindu thinks that there should be no Muslims in Bharat, he will not remain Hindu,” Bhagwat stated, reinforcing the organization’s inclusive outlook.
Bhagwat further elaborated on the RSS’s philosophy, suggesting that the concept of ‘we’ and ‘ours’ offers solutions, contrasting it with the limitations of ‘me’ and ‘mine’. He detailed the extensive service activities undertaken by the RSS, noting that their volunteers, with societal support, run approximately 1.3 lakh service projects. These initiatives, he stressed, are carried out without discrimination, serving all those in need equally.
The RSS chief’s visit to the United States, which began on Tuesday, is part of the organization’s centenary year global outreach program. His tour also includes engagements in Canada and the United Kingdom. In the US, Bhagwat was scheduled to address a large gathering of around 5,000 people at Madison Square Garden and has held meetings with members of the Indian diaspora, American business executives, and community leaders.
During his stay, Bhagwat also visited the Bhakti Centre in New York. He paid his respects to the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), spiritual leader Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. The RSS’s global outreach aims to foster understanding and strengthen connections with the international community.
