Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Singh officially commenced a ten-day statewide cleanliness and garbage clearance initiative on Saturday, marking the second phase of ‘Mission Clean Punjab’ with a sweeping exercise on Jail Road near Thapar Institute in Patiala.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the Health Minister urged citizens to integrate cleanliness into their daily routines and actively participate in maintaining the state’s hygienic conditions.
The campaign, scheduled from August 29 to September 7, is designed to address garbage-prone areas and enhance the aesthetic appeal of cities and villages across Punjab. Minister Singh emphasized that ensuring a clean and beautiful Punjab is a collective responsibility, extending beyond the purview of government bodies and sanitation workers to include every resident.
Municipal Corporation Mayor Kundan Gogia, senior government officials, local residents, and representatives from various social organizations were present at the launch event. The initiative, spearheaded by the Punjab Government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, aims to foster a cleaner environment through coordinated efforts.
Civic body sanitation personnel, trainees from the Punjab Jail Training School, and Patiala residents actively joined the efforts to clear accumulated waste and improve public spaces. The mission underscores a broader governmental commitment to public health and environmental sanitation across the state.
The ten-day drive is expected to mobilize significant community participation, focusing on visible improvements in sanitation infrastructure and waste management practices in both urban and rural settings.
