Two individuals died on Saturday when an empty oil tanker veered off the road and fell into a deep gorge in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. The incident occurred in the Palmar area of Dachhan, according to officials.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the driver of the tanker reportedly lost control while navigating a sharp curve, leading to the catastrophic accident. The remote location and the depth of the gorge complicated immediate rescue efforts.
Following the accident, local residents initiated a rescue operation. However, both occupants of the tanker were found to have sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead at the scene. The efforts by the locals were commended by officials for their prompt response.
The deceased have been identified as Shakoor Ahmad, a resident of Doda district, and Abdul Majid Wani, from Ramban district. Both individuals were travelling in the tanker at the time of the mishap. Their families have been informed about the tragic loss.
