Jammu, September 7: A Pakistani national, apprehended recently for inadvertently crossing into Indian territory along the International Border in Jammu, was repatriated to Pakistan on Monday.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the individual, identified as Nazir Sadhir, a resident of Luni Pundra village in Sialkot, Pakistan, was handed over to Pakistani Rangers by the Border Security Force (BSF) at the Golpattan Border Out-Post.
Sadhir was apprehended on September 3 in the Kanachak area of Jammu shortly after he had crossed the border into India. Initial questioning revealed that he was a resident of a border village in Pakistan and had mistakenly entered Indian territory.
Following the verification of his inadvertently crossed status, BSF officials established contact with their Pakistani counterparts. A flag meeting was subsequently organized with the Pakistan Rangers, during which the repatriation of Nazir Sadhir was facilitated.
The incident highlights the ongoing vigilance along the International Border and the established protocols for handling inadvertent border crossings. Such repatriations are part of de-escalation and confidence-building measures between border guarding forces of both nations.
Border Security Force patrols remain on high alert along the International Border to prevent any attempts at infiltration and to maintain the sanctity of the border.
