JAMMU, Sep 15: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu, Tejinder Singh, on Tuesday undertook a visit to Reasi district to meticulously review the prevailing security situation and overall policing arrangements.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that the review meeting, conducted at the District Police Lines in Reasi, was chaired by the IGP and attended by senior officials including Deputy Inspector General of Police Udhampur-Reasi Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma, and Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi, Mukund Tibrewal.
The IGP’s visit comes at a time when Reasi district is recognized for its vital installations and sensitive locations. The district is home to the revered Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, a major pilgrimage site attracting millions of visitors annually. Additionally, it hosts significant railway infrastructure, including the landmark Chenab Bridge and the Anji Khud Bridge, both engineering marvels that underscore the region’s strategic importance.
During the high-level security meeting, IGP Singh focused on key security and policing measures. Discussions encompassed operational preparedness of the forces, effectiveness of intelligence gathering mechanisms, and the implementation of preventive actions and surveillance strategies across the district. The emphasis was placed on maintaining a robust security posture to preempt any untoward incidents.
A significant portion of the review was dedicated to the security arrangements at critical installations within the district. The IGP issued specific directions to further fortify these sites and ensure seamless coordination among all relevant stakeholders, including various security agencies and local administration.
