Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir – The Jammu and Kashmir administration has reiterated its commitment to supporting and expanding initiatives aimed at promoting sports and fostering sporting talent across the Union Territory. This assurance was given by Satish Sharma, Minister for Youth Services & Sports, who attended the concluding league-stage match of the Khyber Cement Kashmir Super League 2026.
Government Vows Continued Support for Sports Development in J&K
Information was available with The Chenab Times that Minister Sharma, who also holds portfolios for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, and Science & Technology, was the Chief Guest at the final league fixture between Swift Strikers Rainawari FC and Sanctorum North United FC. The match saw an impressive display of football, with Swift Strikers Rainawari FC securing a dominant 6-0 victory to clinch the fourth and final play-off spot.
The league stage concluded with Athwas India XI emerging as the league toppers. The successful teams are now poised to compete in the play-off stages for the championship title. During the event, Minister Sharma engaged with players, team officials, and organizers, commending their dedication in establishing a competitive platform for local footballers.
Sharma emphasized the significance of leagues like the Kashmir Super League in providing young athletes with consistent match exposure and a venue to showcase their skills. Sharma also acknowledged the contribution of coaches, referees, technical officials, team management, sponsors, and supporters in making the tournament a success.
