Jammu and Kashmir: Budgam Police have successfully resolved a gold theft incident, leading to the arrest of an accused woman and the recovery of a stolen gold bangle. The incident occurred during a visit to the Charar-i-Sharief Shrine.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that a complaint was lodged at Police Station Charar-i-Sharief concerning the theft of a gold bangle from a woman visiting the shrine. Following the complaint, an FIR, No. 70/2026, was registered under Section 303(2) of the BNS, and an investigation was promptly initiated.
Investigators meticulously reviewed CCTV footage and other available evidence to identify individuals connected to the crime. This thorough analysis led to the identification of a primary suspect.
The accused woman, identified as Dolly Jan, wife of Farooq Ahmad Sheikh and daughter of Mohammad Rafiq Sheikh, residing in Shaltang and presently residing in Lalpora Tangmarg, was subsequently apprehended by the police team. During interrogation, Dolly Jan confessed to her involvement in the theft. The stolen gold bangle was recovered from her possession.
The investigation into the case is ongoing, with authorities seeking to ascertain the full extent of the crime and any potential accomplices.
