Srinagar: National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Monday welcomed a Supreme Court notice pertaining to decisions made by an Election Commissioner, stating that the party plans to unveil its revised constitution for public review following internal approval.
Information was available with The Chenab Times that Abdullah expressed satisfaction with the Supreme Court’s engagement on the matter. “I am very happy that the Supreme Court has taken cognisance of this,” he remarked, indicating his approval of the court’s intervention.
Addressing a party meeting held recently, Abdullah elaborated on its objectives, stating that the gathering was convened to bolster the organisation and pinpoint areas requiring improvement. “The meeting was held to strengthen the party,” he stated, adding that deliberations involved Srinagar’s eight MLAs, ward presidents, and other party functionaries.
Discussions during the meeting focused on identifying organizational weaknesses. “We spoke to them about the shortcomings that need to be addressed,” Abdullah said.
The National Conference intends to present its proposed new constitution to the public once the necessary internal legislative processes are concluded. “First, we will place it before our working committee. After it is approved, the process will move forward,” Abdullah explained, outlining the party’s proposed sequence of actions for adopting the new constitutional framework.
